13.2 Mount Linton Station

Today we wanted to start quite early to get to the next campsite which would have been one and a half day away. Unfortunately the early start did not happen. So we already knew that it is not very likely to make it to the campsite. We tried our best but the TA here is still on farmland. We got into the next forest away from the TA and pitched up the tent.

We hope not make the landowner or anyone else upset and we don’t want to end like the cow a few meters from our tent:

Today was a quite cloudy day but there had always been this one blue hole in the sky and the sun shined through on us. It was a long hike today and we saw thousand of butterflies and sheeps.

When we hiked down to Birchwood in the morning we could see the Takitimu Mountains which the trail will leave close on its left side.

The alarm is set for 6am and we hope to make it to the Wairaki but tommorow.
