It was great to sleep so close to the fire although it got colder in the night.
The last two days were exhausting for us. So it was time to have a more relaxing day. The trail followed down the valley past John Tait hut. During lunch we had some nice chats to some keen trampers, who headed in the direction where we came from. With the updated forecast from this morning this could turn out to be an adventure. On the trail further down we got to see a big waterfall just a few minutes off track.

The weather turned and it started to rain. 2 hours of rain walking later we got to Lakehead Hut. Just three older trampers stayed there. When it got dark at about 6pm they went to bed. At around 8pm a school class (!) arrived. The hut was full and everyone was awake again. It was a huge chaos. 31 people in the hut, nevertheless the night was kind of quiet.
